Career counseling

Career counseling is a specialized process that helps individuals explore their career options, identify their strengths, set career goals, and develop strategies to achieve them. This can involve assessments, one-on-one guidance, case management, and support in job searching or skill development. Overall, career counseling can play a vital role in helping individuals impacted by the opioid epidemic rebuild their lives and foster a sustainable, fulfilling career path.

Job placement

Job placement services assist individuals in finding suitable employment. These services include resume writing, interview preparation, job search strategies, and connections to potential (and recovery-friendly) employers. These services additionally cater to individuals facing barriers to employment. The P2R grantees providing these services play a key role in supporting individuals impacted by the opioid epidemic by helping them navigate the job market, fostering independence, and promoting long-term stability.

Within the first 30 days of entering the P2R program, all participants will meet with grantee staff to complete an Individualized Employment Plan (IEP). This process takes into account participants’ unique skills, interests, and circumstances, ensuring the plan is tailored to their specific needs and goals. It also helps set clear, achievable career objectives which provides direction and motivation throughout the job search and employment process.

The IEP typically involves an assessment of current skills and identification of areas needing development, which can guide additional next steps in training and education. Finally, it also provides a framework for monitoring progress, enabling individuals and their case managers to make adjustments as needed and celebrate employment milestones.
